Reveries In Motion Dance Company is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Chicago, Illinois.
We invite you to learn more about us:

Our Company brings together dancers and dance students to advance the art of dance, and explore ways to add a unique vision to existing dance norms. Reveries in Motion creates original dance pieces for performance, always with the goal of freeing the art form from convention.

Reveries In Motion presents innovative dance pieces in performance, using the medium to enhance people's understanding of issues of current concern. The organization's original focus is on the devastation that war has brought to the children of northern Uganda.

In April 2007, Heather Liparota was one of thousands nationwide to participate in Invisible Children Inc.'s “Displace Me” event. In Chicago, “Displace Me” participants slept outdoors overnight at Soldier Field—a symbolic representation of how Ugandan children sleep in hiding places to avoid abduction by the army. This experience and the “Invisible Children: Rough Cut” documentary inspired Liparota to help promote awareness about the tragic situation in Uganda. Her vision for Reveries In Motion began with this endeavor. While managing life as a full-time student at Northeastern Illinois University and a part-time dance teacher, Liparota united a diverse group of adult and teen dancers to enact her vision. Using her personal network and a craigslist ad, she acquired the necessary resources to ignite the spark now known as Reveries In Motion.

Reveries In Motion is a dance activism organization. A portion of the Company's concert proceeds are always donated to a charitable cause. Since February 2008, Liparota organized two benefit dance concerts featuring several of the current Company members. These performances combined raised more than $1500, which was donated to Invisible Children.

In August 2009, Reveries In Motion was granted 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. In September 2009, the Company presented its first independent concert. Additionally, in November 2009, Reveries In Motion made its debut in Dance Chicago, performing "Spark!" by Heather Liparota.
